Risk Assessments
Exhibiting companies are responsible to the Organiser for their employees’ and Contractors’ compliance with health and safety.
The SECC Safety & Security Leaflet contains important information for anyone associated with the event.
Sample Risk Assessment and Method Statement templates have been produced to assist both Exhibiting Companies and their Contractors. These also contain important information for both build and exhibition staff.
They must be adopted by anyone who intends to use them by completing the administration section and checking or completing the content where this is required. Use of the templates is not mandatory but will be used as a minimum standard of compliance by the Organisers. Exhibiting Companies and their Contractors may also use their own documentation either independently or to support the templates if they wish.
Each Company that plans to build their own stand must submit a full method statement incorporating a risk assessment and clearly illustrate how the build, operation and deconstruction of the stand will be done safely. Exhibiting Companies are also required to submit a set of drawings complete with dimensions.
Shell Scheme
Exhibitors who order a shell scheme through the Exhibition Contractor do not need to submit a risk assessment for the build process but should ensure that their stand and their fittings are safe. No documents are required for shell scheme users. However, the Risk Assessment and Method Statement templates contain useful information regarding health and safety and site access and security.
Pop Up Stands
Exhibitors using simple pop-up stands are not required to provide any documents. However, the Risk Assessment and Method Statement templates contain useful information regarding health and safety and site access and security.
The Risk Assessment and Method Statement templates are free of copyright for use associated with the BSH Conference.
Risk assessments should be submitted to the BSH Conference Secretariat by Monday 19th March 2012.
